New Day Spa Focuses on Pampering Men in a Setting Just for Them

Essence of a Man Day Spa & Barbershop, a new full service spa designed exclusively for the urban professional man, recently opened its doors at 10999 Red Run Blvd. (Suite 207) in Owings Mills, MD. The spa incorporates traditional spa and barbershop services with its own custom services for men including, the Business Manicure & Pedicure, Facial Treatments for ingrown hair, Loc Maintenance, and the Signature Haircut that includes an invigorating shampoo and scalp massage.

Being pampered with spa services has increasingly become popular with men in recent years. According to the International Spa Association, professional men account for about 30% of all spa goers. To attract this growing population, traditional women-only spas have added services for men receiving with mixed results. Although men and women enjoy receiving these services, they do not always feel relaxed and comfortable in co-ed settings.

Kenneth Massey, an Owings Mills resident and local businessman adds, “I saw there was a need for men to have a place to receive these services and feel comfortable”. Having personally experienced the uncomfortable feeling in a co-ed spa setting, he conceived the idea and established Essence of a Man Day Spa and Barbershop.

Guests of the spa will enjoy a professional and relaxing décor, featuring fully equipped, modern barber stations, private rooms for facials and massages as well as manicure and pedicure stations. A comfortable waiting lounge enables customers to catch up on the news or sports on two flat screen televisions, transact business using the free WI-FI connection and enjoy a professional 15-minute chair massage for the businessman on the go.
